Excitement was in the air at Tradex Thursday morning as thousands of athletes moved through the 2016 BC Summer Games’ participant accreditation centre in advance of opening ceremonies later that night.

Athletes, coaches, officials and supporters from around the province are pouring into Abbotsford by bus, plane and car for the 2016 BC Summer Games.

Georgia Ellenwood didn’t have to go far for her first major competition, but it served as a launching point which has taken her to countries around the world.

She was a 14-year-old track and field athlete when the BC Summer Games were held in the Township of Langley in 2010.

Soccer has been a lifelong journey for Abbotsford's Gavin Gill, and he's ready to take the next big step in that quest at the upcoming BC Summer Games.

Gill has been on the pitch since the age of four, when he donned a Timbits soccer jersey, but starting on July 22 he'll be representing the Fraser Valley at the Games.
