Karina LeBlanc Game Changer Award Nominations Now Open

Named after Karina LeBlanc, retired Olympic bronze medalist and one of the longest serving soccer players for Canada, the Karina LeBlanc Game Changer Award was developed to recognize the achievement of a young individual who has created opportunities for underrepresented youth in their community to participate more fully in sport.

Maple Ridge receives legacy funding for community initiatives

Maple Ridge receives legacy funding for community initiatives

The BC Games Society is rallying behind the City of Maple Ridge following cancellation of this year’s summer games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Province, through the society, is providing $125,000 to support local sport and community development projects and ensure people will still benefit from the city being chosen to host the BC Summer Games.

2016 BC Summer Games Spirit of Inclusivity Lives On at Grant Park

The spirit of the BC Games is to provide exceptional experiences by creating a positive, respectful, inclusive, and accessible environment. Each BC Games leaves behind legacy funding to continue this spirit in the host community. The legacy funding from the 2016 BC Summer Games went towards building a more inclusive and accessible Grant Park in Abbotsford. Among the three new baseball diamonds that were built is one for players with disabilities from the Abbotsford Angels’ Challenger division.

Thank You Simon and Sarah!

The BC Games Society is sad to say goodbye to two wonderful board members who have contributed so much to the direction and scope of the Games. Since joining the BC Games Society Board of Directors in January of 2014, Simon Whitfield and Sarah Zimmerman have served six exceptional years and given their time, skills and insight to improving the BC Games. They will be leaving us in June of 2020 and we are so thankful for their dedicated service.
