Sport BC Recognizes BC Games Alumni for Volunteerism

Sport BC’s annual President's Awards were presented at the 54th Athlete of the Year ceremony on March 25, 2021. The Awards are presented to volunteers from Sport BC member and partner organizations who represent the spirit of volunteerism, and whose dedication, energy, and commitment contribute to development of their sport or organization in the province of British Columbia. Of the 37 recipients, 10 BC Games alumni were celebrated at the virtual event, including the BC Games Society’s nomination, Jeremy Grant.

BC Games & Team BC Alumni Honoured at Athlete of the Year Awards

Sport BC celebrated the 54th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards virtually on Thursday, March 25, 2021.The Athlete of the Year Awards recognize the province’s best in amateur sport including athletes, coaches, teams, and officials for outstanding performances in their sport over the 2019 season. Each finalist was nominated by their Provincial or Multi-Sport Organization, High School, College, or University.

Maple Ridge 2020 BC Summer Games Sport Partner Fund Recipients Announced

The Province of B.C. and the BC Games Society are pleased to announce the recipients of the Maple Ridge 2020 BC Summer Games Sport Partner Fund. 16 Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) and Disability Sport Organizations (DSOs) affected by the cancellation have been awarded funding totalling $130,000 to support programming that will enhance participation in future BC Summer Games.

Nine BC Games Alumni Represent Canada at the 2021 FIS Junior World and U23 Championships

In December, Nordiq Canada announced its FIS Junior World and U23 Championships athletes for 2021, which took place in Lahti and Vuokatti, Finland, from February 6-13. The BC Games is proud to share that out of the 20 Canadian athletes who qualified, 9 are from BC and all competed at the BC Winter Games. Nordic Canada chose 20 athletes, 10 for World Junior’s and 10 for U23’s, with five women and five men per category.
