BC Rugby's Darcy Patterson recognized with Presidents' Award

The annual President's Awards, now in its 25th year, were presented at the 53rd Athlete of the Year ceremony on March 13, 2019.   The President's Awards are presented to volunteers from Sport BC member and partner organizations who represent the spirit of volunteerism, and whose dedication, energy and commitment contribute to development of their sport or organization in the province of British Columbia.

For the 2019 Presidents’ Awards, the BC Games Society was honoured to recognize Darcy Patterson from the British Columbia Rugby Union for her unfailing support of women’s rugby and leadership in building the sport.  Patterson is the Rugby Development Officer with BC Rugby and acts as the Provincial Advisor for rugby to the BC Summer Games.  She has increased participation across the province resulting in teams from all eight BC Games zones participating in women’s rugby sevens at the 2016 and 2018 BC Summer Games.

A former national level player, Darcy retired from the game and has moved into coaching and sport administration.  She has a great commitment to her sport and to the promotion of healthy active living opportunities for young women.
