As the sun beat down on athletes and spectators at the 2014 Summer Games in Nanaimo, team members from Vancouver-Squamish (Zone 5) took their places on the podium, ready to receive their medals for outstanding efforts.

Under hot, sunny skies at the Rotary Bowl in Nanaimo, discus hurler Valerie Wideski topped competitors to break previously held records with a Gold winning throw of  37.61 metres.

Vancouver Island-Central Coast (Zone 6) goes one-two on the men’s javelin throw podium at the BC Summer Games, which were held in Nanaimo.
