BC Games Alumnus Josh Dueck Named Chef de Mission for Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games

The Canadian Paralympic Committee has named BC Games alumnus and retired Para alpine skier Josh Dueck as Canada's chef de mission for the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. As chef de mission, Dueck will promote the Canadian Paralympic Team and mentor athletes, coaches, and staff.

BC Games Official Appointed to Order of Canada

On November 27, 2020, the governor general announced the newest members of the Order of Canada, one of our country’s highest civilian honours. Among the 114 new appointees is former BC Games official Tim Frick. Frick has been appointed for his expertise in coaching and his contributions to the advancement of parasports in Canada, exemplifying the Order’s motto: “DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM” ("They desire a better country").

President and Vice President Announced for Greater Vernon 2022 BC Winter Games

In the winter of 2022, Greater Vernon will welcome over 2,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from communities across B.C. as it hosts the 2022 BC Winter Games.  Leading a volunteer board as it prepares for the Games will be Val Trevis, who has been appointed as its President, and Teresa Durning, who will take on the Vice President role.

Members of the BC Games Family Win the Eric Whitehead Inspired Service Award

The BC Sports Hall of Fame held its 2020 Annual Summit virtually on Friday, September 18th, to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of curling in B.C. and to announce the winners of the Eric Whitehead Inspired Service Awards for 2020. Presented in partnership with the BC Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, these awards recognize inspired service in and to sport in B.C. and we are proud to say that all six of the recipients have been part of the BC Games family in roles such as Provincial Advisors, coaches, participants, officials, and sport partners.
