The Canadian Paralympic Committee has named BC Games alumnus and retired Para alpine skier Josh Dueck as Canada's chef de mission for the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. As chef de mission, Dueck will promote the Canadian Paralympic Team and mentor athletes, coaches, and staff.

From Kimberley, B.C., Dueck coached freestyle skiing at the 2004 BC Winter Games and competed at the 2006 BC Winter Games in para-alpine skiing, just two years after the ski accident that changed his life. Dueck continued to overcome his challenges by making his Paralympic debut in 2010, winning a silver medal in the men’s sitting slalom race; becoming the first person to successfully perform a back flip on a sit ski; and winning gold and silver at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. Inducted into the Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame last year and the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2018, Dueck now works as the executive director of Freestyle BC and as a mentor and motivational speaker to help others with disabilities reach their full potential in sport.
