Youth Development through the BC Games

BCRPA Article

The BC Games have been providing exceptional experience for youth for the past 40 years.  The fall edition of the Recreation and Parks BC magazine focused on youth development and the BC Games was proud to share the impact we have had on youth through the Games, as well as through innovative programs and partnerships.

“We are tremendously proud of the many athletes who have started their journey to international sport success at the BC Games,” said Kelly Mann, President and CEO of the BC Games Society. “But, for every athlete who reaches the Olympic or Paralympic podium, there are countless others who have taken their experience at the BC Games as an opportunity to pursue their dreams and goals outside of sport. Whether it is education, philanthropy, or business, we hope that tomorrow’s leaders will reflect on the inspiration and motivation they gained through the BC Games.”

Indigenous Athlete Participation

Archery Partnership

The BC Games Society, Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (ISPARC) and BC Archery Association have come together to expand pathways for Indigenous athletes at the Kamloops 2018 BC Winter Games.

The goal of this partnership is to create increased advancement opportunities for Indigenous athletes to compete at the BC Winter Games to potentially move forward to compete at the North American Indigenous Games and the Canada Winter Games.
