Cariboo-North East wins inline hockey bronze

Cariboo-North East (Zone 8) played a strong game to defeat Vancouver Island-Central Coast six to three and win the inline hockey bronze medal.

The Cariboo-North East squad opened the scoring early on in the game and added a second before Vancouver Island-Central Coast made it on the scoreboard near the end of the half.

The second half opened with a goal by Cariboo-North East to go ahead three to one. They tallied another goal to take a comfortable four to one lead. Vancouver Island-Central Coast fought back to make the score four to two with only three minutes remaining in the game. With Vancouver Island-Central Coast’s net empty, Cariboo-North East potted two more goals to go ahead six to two. Vancouver Island-Central Coast managed a late goal with only seconds to go in the game, but ran out of time to make a comeback.

Garet Anderson, a thirteen-year-old defenceman from Prince George, commented on scoring the game’s opening goal.

It feels good to get the momentum going,” Anderson explained. Anderson was also extremely happy with the way his team played.

We executed our plays, passed well and finished our checks,” Anderson said. Anderson added that he just had a lot of fun playing the game today.
