The Vancouver Island Central Coast (Zone 6) boys dominated the course and took the home gold, silver and bronze medal in the 420 class sailboat races.
With a score of 14 points, Ben Daniel and Heath Dean of Nanaimo (#4350) made it look easy, coasting through the finish line alone at least once. Jon Kelly and Max Therrien, also of Nanaimo, pushed the competition with 16 points for the silver while Chris Vassallo of Ladysmith and Tiernan Kingzett of Nanaimo pulled 17 points to win the bronze.
In the girls 420, sisters Isabella and Anna-Katarina Hoelk (#5223) from West Vancouver-Squamish (Zone 5) won the gold displaying grit and determination race after race. Lauren Christensen and Danielle Cyr from Victoria won silver for zone 6, while Katelyn Ellis and Dasha Russell from Nelson are taking bronze back to the Kootenays (Zone 1).
