Duncan, BC – In the summer of 2018, the Cowichan Valley will welcome over 3,000 athletes, coaches and officials from communities across BC as it hosts the Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games. Leading the volunteer board as it prepares for the games will be Jennifer Woike, who has been appointed as its president.

“We are thrilled Jennifer Woike has accepted her nomination as president,” explains CVRD Board Chair Jon Lefebure. “Jennifer has lived in the Cowichan Valley for over 20 years and volunteered on a number of committees and commissions. She has been involved with BC Summer Games as both a volunteer and this summer as a parent of an athlete.”

The nominating committee will now work with Woike to develop her volunteer board.

“The BC Games Society looks forward to returning to the Cowichan Valley,” says society President and CEO, Kelly Mann. “The past few years have seen great investments by local governments in sport infrastructure, while hosting the North American Indigenous Games has given your residents new skills and confidences to assist with the 2018 BC Summer Games. I know Ms. Woike will assemble a strong group of volunteers to deliver a great sport experience for BC’s best young athletes and coaches.”

The Cowichan BC Summer Games will be held July 19 – 22, 2018.
