On November 5, BC Games staff traveled to Ottawa to meet with representatives from provincial multi-sport Games across the country including the Alberta Games, Saskatchewan Games, Manitoba Games, Ontario Games and the Canada Games Council.

Every province presented on recent innovations and successes allowing for valuable transfer of knowledge.  The BC Games Society shared information on our integrated brand strategy where a single logo and visual standards package is used by both the provincial society and host societies.  This strategy has also extended to an integrated website and investments in signage which was shared with the group.

Other Games representatives presented on sport selection, venue standards, bid processes, transportation, volunteer management, registration, webcasting and social media.  Further discussion forums delved deeper into the subject areas to share common challenges and opportunities in delivering multi-sport Games.

BC Games staff came away with new information to bring forward to our Games as well as valuable new contacts with people conducting the same work across the country.

This is the third time this group has met and plans are to continue this valuable information exchange and networking event every two years.
