Maelle Reed of Zone 6 (Vancouver Island-Central Coast) just turned 17. She already has an impressive rugby resume. She is on the Girls Provincial rugby Elite Team that was recently in Las Vegas. Other accomplishments include making the U18 team that will be going to England and being shortlisted for the U18 Youth Olympic team.

Her latest achievement: scoring a try in the final game and helping her team win gold at the Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games.  Her parents, Scott and Suzanne Reed, said that she really identifies with the sport and trains every day. While she loves the sport, they say it can be challenging working through injuries and travelling so much for games. But Maelle continues to charge on.

Note: this photo illustrates a “show and go," which is the rugby term for a breakaway. In the photo, Maelle is running at the front.
