Vaulting is a sport that is equal parts gymnastics, strength, and teamwork. All of this done while riding a horse.

On Saturday, Cloe Comstock, from Nelson representing Zone 1 (Kootenays), had a great ride on Matisse, a shire paint horse from Parksville. Cloe has been riding for as long as she can remember. She began vaulting seven years ago, as it looked like a fun sport and another way to bond with horses.

After a riding accident resulted in a broken arm, she took some time off as she was nervous. Even though it was hard to come back, when she did get back on the horse she was more confident than ever.

At the Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games she's met riders from across the province, including fellow rider Danae Moore from Langley. Representing Zone 3 (Fraser Valley), Danae has been vaulting for four years and loves it.

The girls are looking forward to Sunday's vaulting finals.
