Kieran Dehnel of Nelson, BC is back at the BC Summer Games and he is raring to go.  He was chosen as an alternate last year and did not get any playing time, but he did not let that get him down. After that Kieran came back better than ever and made the BC Summer Games, Kootenay Team this year and also the BC Soccer Premier League, which is BC's highest level of youth soccer.

His father and Assistant Coach of the Kootenay Team, Kurt Dehnel said, "Kieran was excited to be chosen as an alternate as one of the youngest players on the team last Summers Game. He didn't get any playing time but he didn't let the lack of playing time discourage him." Coach Dehnel went on to say, "The difference between boys who succeed and those boys that don't, is whether they come with a good attitude and play with heart. I always tell the boys the main thing is that need to come to these Summer Games and play with heart."

On Saturday morning at Sherman Field at McAdam's Park, Zone 1 (Kootenays) definitely played with heart winning their first game against the powerful Zone 5 (Vancouver-Coastal) team with a score of 1 to 0. They are heading to finals tomorrow morning to play the Zone 4 (Fraser River) team at 11 am at McAdams's Park to hopefully take home some medals for Kootenay Region and you will bet they will be playing with heart.
