In 2016, Kenzie Thompson participated in the BC Summer Games as a rower for Fraser River (Zone 4). Fast-forward two years, and she has returned to the Summer Games, this time as Head Coach.

Thompson embodies the spirit of mentorship and paying it forward. She says, "I reflect on those moments in my past where I struggled, could have been a stronger athlete, or had better focus, and ...I remind my athletes that they just need to do their best." She says it's all about learning and personal growth. "I did not medal at my Games and nothing bad happened to me. I still felt pretty fulfilled and had a great Games."

This fall, Thompson is moving to the Island to pursue her education. She's not sure where her path will ultimately lead, but knows she has will continue to contribute; "if I have the opportunity to coach more juniors in the future, that would be great... they have a lot of passion, energy, and they are fun and adaptable."
