Fraser Valley (Zone 3) golfer Lucas O'Dell's very first shot, during Round 1 at the Cowichan 2018 BC Summer Games, found its way into the back of one of the Rules Official's power cart. Official Mike Martyn was parked some distance away doing what he does best, when he heard a thud.

The official ruling on the incident was Rule 24-1: Movable Obstruction. Lucas was able to take relief without penalty. He was asked to lift the ball, while the moveable obstruction (power cart) was moved out of the way and then drop the ball as near as possible to the spot directly under where the ball lay on the power cart. After doing what he was directed to do, by Official Martyn, Lucas played out hole #1 and carried on.

However, Lucas found himself in a similar situation on the Par 5, Hole #16 where he hit his third shot onto the #17 tee box under a bench. The bench was removed and Lucas prepared for his next swing. It was quite the blind shot from the #17 tee box to #16 green, but he managed to get it on the green and walk away with a 1 putt par!

Lucas finished his day tied in 15th spot in the boys individual competition, with only one round to go he is hoping to not meet up with another moveable obstruction!
