Five BC Games Alumni take part in 2013 Universiade

Five BC Games alumni put on the Canadian maple leaf and represented their country at the 2013 Universiade in Trentino, Italy from December 11-21. The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

Competing in the Cross Country competition were, Kajsa Heyes of Vancouver (2006 BC Summer and BC Winter Games) and Andrea Lee of Black Creek (2004 BC Summer and BC Winter Games.

Lucas Bloodoff from Castlegar (2004 BC Winter Games) and Christina Capozzi (2008 BC Winter Games) were members of the men's and women's hockey teams who both brought home the gold medal from the Universiade.

Jamie McDonald from Fort St. James competed in short track speed skating at the Universiade.  Jamie was an athlete at the 2008 BC Winter Games and was recognized for her achievements at those Games by being awarded the BC Games Athlete Bursary (now known as the W.R. Bennett Award for Athletic Achievement.
