The BC Games Society is pleased to welcome Black Press as the newest Corporate Partner of the BC Winter and BC Summer Games. Black Press operates over 70 community newspapers across British Columbia and with this four-year agreement will provide extensive coverage and profile of BC’s largest ongoing multisport Games events. Black Press joins long-time BC Games Society Corporate Partners, Global BC and Jazz Air.

“This significant contribution from Black Press will allow the stories of BC Games athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and communities to be shared across the province.” said Kelly Mann, President and CEO of the BC Games Society. “We are grateful for this tremendous support and we look forward to a strong partnership with Black Press.”

Starting in Greater Vernon for the 2012 BC Winter Games, the Vernon Morning Star will ensure that the community is informed and excited about the Games in February 2012. The BC Summer Games in Surrey will follow in July of 2012 and the communities of Mission and Nanaimo will also benefit as they begin planning for hosting BC’s best young athletes in 2014.

“Black Press is deeply connected to our communities including both minor and high-performance sport,” expressed Candy Hodson, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Black Press.  “It is a natural fit to partner and support the activities of the BC Games and to tell stories that inspire physical activity and community engagement.”

The BC Games Society is responsible for staging BC’s largest multisport events, the BC Summer and BC Winter Games.  Since 1978, the BC Games have taken place in 38 communities and involved over 350,000 participants and volunteers from every corner of the province.
