A five-goal flurry in the second period lead Thompson Okanagan to a 9-5 victory over Cariboo NE Saturday morning at ARC.

Alex Nimmo from Cariboo scored first in the first period followed by Beau Chetner and Jake Coles from Okanagan for a 2-1 lead for Okanagan after one. Goaltending was fantastic for both teams in the first period.

In the second, Okanagan turned up the heat with four goals by Ben Olsen and a single by Adam Gardner. The score was 7-2 for Okanagan after the second period. Hayden Kerr from Cariboo opened the scoring in the third. Brendan Craig and Mack Stead tallied for Okanagan and Cariboo's Alex Nimmo ended the scoring with his third goal of the game.

When Okanagan coach Dan Chetner was asked what motivated his team to score five goals in the second. Smiling, he said he simply asked them for more offensive effort and they delivered. Coach Chetner added that he was equally proud of the defensive efforts of the team.
