Jaelyn Dragt took advantage of her hometown support, shattering her personal best to win the triple jump title.

The Abbotsford teen who turns 14 next month, leapt 10.33m in the girls triple jump on Friday afternoon at Rotary Stadium.

It was the first time she has ever cleared 10m and was nearly 0.80m ahead of her previous best, 9.54m, which she jumped last month at the provincial championships.

"It felt really good. I was jumping for God. That was my inspiration," she said.

"I was not focusing on myself, but just doing it for Him."

And with the BC Summer Games in her hometown, Dragt also had her own personal cheering section, complete with signs of encouragement.

The support did not go unnoticed.

"It was really great to have all that support cheering me on," she said.

Vancouver's Sabrina Woo won silver for zone 5 with a jump of 9.87m, just ahead of Surrey's Angela Peters (9.84m).
