BC Games Society Seeking Support for Powering Potential Fund

The BC Games Society is seeking donations for the Powering Potential Fund to maximize and extend the impact of the Games. Over the next few months, the Society aims to raise funds that will allow the organization to collaborate with host communities on projects that further ignite participation and grow capacity within their community.

In 2017, the BC Games Society created the Powering Potential Fund as a vehicle to strategically invest in projects that will further the development of athletes, sport organizations, and communities.

Access to funding and to sport facilities or specialized equipment will assist athletes as they progress from provincial to national and international competition and will also allow communities to offer programming that will benefit all. To date the BC Games Society has invested over $165,000 back into athletes and communities through the initiative.

“The Powering Potential Fund was created to give back to the communities that host the Games to ensure they are able to continue to develop sport and physical activity opportunities even after the Games leave town. It is also an avenue for funding for athletes as they continue on their sport development path.,” says Alison Noble, President and CEO of the BC Games Society. “This fund offers a significant legacy of the Games that will enhance sport experiences for athletes and communities well into the future.”

As the lead organization for the BC Winter and BC Summer Games, the BC Games Society brings together communities throughout the province in the spirit of sport and friendship. Since 1978, the BC Games have taken place in 38 communities and brought together thousands of athletes, volunteers, coaches, and officials from every corner of the province. For many participants, the Games have launched impressive sport careers that extended to national and international competitions. The Powering Potential Fund aims to extend the impact of the BC Games Society by supporting developing athletes where individuals and organizations can have a lasting impact on the development of B.C. athletes.
