BC Games Board Member, Richard Peter, has been selected to compete in Para badminton at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games this summer. It will be the first time Para badminton will be competed at in a major Games as it makes its debut in Lima.

Canada is sending seven athletes to the 2019 Games which will be a qualifier for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo where the sport will have its Paralympic debut.

Richard is not only the 2017 and 2018 Para badminton national champion but is also a five-time Paralympic wheelchair basketball player, winning three gold medals and a silver in his career. After his retirement at the age of 40, Peter decided he was not done with sport and began playing badminton.

Badminton play at the Games will commence August 29 and run through September 1, 2019.
