On Saturday, February 26, volunteer recruitment for the 2022 BC Summer Games was front and centre as the City of Prince George held an Olympic Celebation for Northern BC’s Olympians Sarah Beaudry, Emily Dickson, and two-time Olympic bronze medalist Meryeta O’Dine, all three BC Games alumni.

Prince George 2022 BC Summer Games President, Renee McCloskey, says “We are excited to welcome home our own BC Games alumni and to highlight these opportunities so we can grow our next generation of Olympians.”

The 32nd BC Summer Games will take place July 21-24, 2022 with 18 sports across the city. Volunteer opportunities vary from photography to driving, from food services to access control, from results entry to first said, and the list goes on. There are many areas of interest and a need for various skill sets. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All volunteers must also complete a Police Information Check.

“We need the community to come together and show our spirit," said Tracey James, Director of Participant and Volunteer Services for the Games. "We need 3,000 volunteers - that's 1,000 people who each sign up two friends to volunteer with them!"

Many visited the BC Summer Games volunteer booth and the event contributed to the excitment of bringing the community together for the Games.
