2018 was a milestone year for the BC Games Society as we celebrated our 40th anniversary by visiting past host communities and reconnecting with participants, volunteers, and supporters.

It is these individuals who are the heart and soul of the Games and the successes over the past 40 years are only possible due to their ongoing belief in the value of sport and in the role of the BC Games in contributing lasting legacies.

The next generation of athletes showed their commitment at the 2018 BC Winter Games in Kamloops, fittingly the very first host community of the BC Winter Games in 1979, and the warmth of the Cowichan Valley welcomed the BC Summer Games in July.  Thousands of dedicated volunteers created memorable and unique experiences for participants and citizens alike while showcasing pride and enthusiasm for sport, culture, and community.

And now, we are excited to watch British Columbia’s athletes, many of whom are BC Games alumni, compete for Team BC on the national stage at the upcoming 2019 Canada Winter Games.  In 2020 the BC Winter Games will return to Fort St. John and the BC Summer Games will be hosted in the growing city of Maple Ridge.

As we move forward as an organization, it our commitment to ensure the BC Games maintains the standards and expectations of a positive, respectful, and safe environment to create exceptional experiences for everyone involved.
