It’s that time of year to nominate an exceptional coach for viaSport’s Coach of the Year Awards! Founded by the Coaches Association of BC, the Coach of the Year Awards recognize outstanding coaches in British Columbia for their dedication and contribution to sport. The awards celebrate community leaders who continually inspire athletes to realize and reach their potential, qualities we have seen in many BC Games coaches.

Each recipient will receive a $250 bursary and will be a part of a virtual award presentation this year. Any current/former athletes, parents/guardians of athletes, other coaches, and Provincial and Local Sport Organization (club) representatives can nominate a coach. Criteria include demonstrating leadership, effective coaching, and personal growth throughout their career.

The three categories are:

• Community Coach - coaches grassroots and recreational athletes at any age
• Competition Coach - coaches athletes who are developing competitive skills and preparing for higher competition within regional or provincial programs
• High Performance Coach - primarily coaches athletes at the international level
