Apply now for a Coast Capital Savings Bursary

The BC Games Society and Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union are continuing to support the development of young athletes, coaches, and officials through the Coast Capital Savings Leadership Bursary. First launched in 2014, this program provides BC Games participants with bursary grants of $500 to support their future sport or education goals.

Athletes (and youth coaches and officials) taking part in the Fort St. John 2020 BC Winter Games can apply to receive one of 16 bursaries in the amount of $500.

The bursary is intended to recognize athletes who have achieved in sport and education and, more importantly, go above and beyond in their communities through leadership and volunteer activities.  Youth coaches and officials under the age of 19 who are attending the Games as part of a development opportunity are also welcome to apply.

Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union has been a Corporate Partner with the BC Games Society since 2013, as part of the credit union’s commitment to invest 10 per cent of its bottom line in projects and initiatives in its communities, with a focus on youth. Coast Capital delivers on this commitment by investing in programs that help young people build the foundation that will help them navigate life, achieve the education they need, prepare for the world of work and build their financial capabilities; all with a goal of contributing to a young person’s journey to becoming empowered and to help them achieve what is important in their lives. With sport being an avenue that can help achieve all of these, the BC Games provide young athletes, coaches, and officials from across the province with an important competitive opportunity and exceptional experience to learn about teamwork, goal setting, friendship, and community excellence.

Athletes (and youth coaches and officials) who have qualified for the 2020 BC Winter Games can apply for the bursary by completing the online application form here.

*A reference letter from a coach or teacher must be included.

The deadline for applications is February 6, 2020

Winners will be announced at the Closing Ceremony of the Fort St. John 2020 BC Games on February 23, 2020.
