Lacrosse Boys Leave it all in the Box

The final game of the day between Zone 6 (Vancouver Island - Central Coast) and Zone 4 (Fraser River) was one Riley Arsenault won't soon forget.

After two periods the Island squad found themselves in a 4-2 hole in front of their home fans at Kerry Park Arena. During the intermission the team started communicating more. Vancouver Island scored three straight goals to take a 5-4 lead. However a late penalty put Fraser River in position to tie the game which they did with less than two minutes remaining.

In sudden death overtime both goaltenders turned away all shots and it looked like this one may end in a tie.

With two and a half minutes remaining Fraser River took an untimely penalty, putting the Island team in position to win. Arsenault, from Victoria, was unable to beat the goalie all game. However with 55 seconds left in overtime he made no mistake burying the game winning shot.

There was no doubt that the crowd was behind them. The roar was nearly deafening as the Islanders jumped over the boards to celebrate their 6-5 overtime victory.
