Basketball coach Sylvester Noel found himself in an "interesting" situation in the gold medal 3x3 game at the BC Summer Games.

The two teams in the final — Vancouver Coastal and Vancouver Coastal A — were both under his coaching direction.

Noel split his time evenly, spending one half on each bench.

Although the "A" team won the gold medal, he said both accomplished all three of their main goals: learning the game, having fun, and winning games.

He said the 3x3 format forces players to work on all aspects of their game, especially defense.

In the bronze medal game, the Vancouver Island Central team beat Vancouver Coastal C.
