The first round of the playoffs is complete in the BC Summer Games three-on-three basketball tournament at Abbotsford Middle School, and several zones are rising to the top.

On the boys side, Vancouver-Coastal (Zone 5) has been remarkably dominant – their four teams in the 15-team draw have all advanced safely to the quarter-finals. Three squads from the zone – Vancouver-Coastal, Van-Coastal B and Van-Coastal C – won their first-round playoff match-ups, while Van-Coastal A had a bye to the quarter-finals.

On the girls side, three zones – Fraser Valley (Zone 3), Thompson-Okanagan (Zone 2) and Vancouver Island-Central Coast (Zone 6) – had both of their teams make their way through to the quarter-finals. The other two QF berths went to Vancouver-Coastal, which saw two of its four teams advance.

The three-on-three basketball playoffs and consolation-side action continue at Abbotsford Middle School on Saturday, wrapping up at 7:30 p.m. The tournament resumes at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
