Fraser River knocks off Vancouver Coastal in girls basketball action

The Fraser River A girls basketball team began their day with a 44-33 win over Vancouver Coastal A Friday morning at Abbotsford Senior.

Fraser River opened up the game with a 20-15 lead at halftime, and continued their strong play into the second half.

The notable teamwork and tough fight was clearly shown in the defence and offence. Lily Borseth of Fraser River was one of the quickest players on the team who had no intention of slowing down on the court after scoring basket after basket amounting to 17 points.

With the help of the opponent team, Fraser River girls had a lead of 33-29 with six minutes left in the game. Both teams continued to showcase an intense play up until the very last second of the game, with fearless blocks and quick action. Vancouver briefly closed the gap, but Fraser increased the intensity and came through with a 10 point win.

Fraser River is now playing Fraser Valley at their second game of the day at Abbotsford Senior in Gym B at 3:30 p.m.
