W.R. Bennett Award - 2014 BC Winter Games - Tyler Tardi

 

Tyler Tardi is an up and coming B.C. curler who skipped his team to the bronze medal at the 2014 BC Winter Games.  
"I had an awesome time at the BC Winter Games with my Juvenile team.  We played hard and won the Bronze Medal.  Thanks to the organizing committee, all the volunteers, the Chilliwack Curling Club, and for the people preparing the food - it was great!

He already has high goals including one day representing Canada on the world stage.

Named as Curl BC’s Junior Male Athlete of the year in 2012, Tyler is part of the Curl BC high performance program and a carded athlete with PacificSport.  He is currently the skip of four different teams including for Lord Tweesdmuir Secondary, a Junior team, BC Games, and Canada Winter Games.  In addition to his busy competition schedule, Tyler volunteers teaching children and adults how to curl as well as actively fundraising for BC’s Children’s Hospital.  

Tyler was presented with the W.R. Bennett Award by MLAs Mark Dalton and Simon Gibson at the Closing Ceremony of the 2014 BC Winter Games.  "I am so honored to have received the W.R. Bennett Award and I would like to thank Curl BC for nominating me, all of my teammates, and all the people who have worked with me during my curling career."

Tyler is continuing to pursue is sport and competed for Team BC at the 2015 Canada Winter Games where he skipped his team to a bronze medal finish.  His first taste of international experience with Team Canada will be at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games.
